Product Development Manager

Originally the sole developer of renal patient software application, progressing to managing the development of the product. Also the Technical lead; instrumental in take-up of the product by other NHS hospitals whilst compliance of the application for the NHS Connecting for Health project.

  • Presented/demonstrated and held question/answer sessions on the application for medical and technical personnel during the tendering process that have resulted in three additional NHS Trusts taking up the application.

  • Trained new members of staff through a series of 'away day' seminars, one-to-one sessions and concise documentation in technical, clinical and sector knowledge.

  • Managed an overseas outsource team of .NET developers quickly identifying during prototyping stage that they were not up to the task saving time/money as the full contract was not given to the outsourcing team.

  • Guided product developments to be compliant with newly published NHS clinical guidelines so that product was 94% compliant without any additional cost to the software house.

  • Implemented the first third party data extract to the Renal Registry.

  • Reduced the company's tendency to rely upon the latest technology 'fads' as solutions by showing that less complicated methods were often more cost effective, supportable and sustainable.

  • Established working relationship with Renal Consultants to implement medical paper theories and formulas into functionality which greatly reduces the amount of time a patient must spend on dialysis; not only an obvious benefit to the patient but also increases capacity of the unit so that more patients can be treated with existing resources.

  • Initiated and enforced a change request regime to document system changes so that third party supplier could accurately charge and signed off changes. This also produced a clinical audit trail of application functionality and implemented best practises within the hospital and satellite units.

  • Contingency system taken on as long term solution as it was considered to have greater functionality than the market leader's product.

  • Created a clinician led solution by working in partnership with NHS healthcare professionals.

  • In four months, developed and implemented year 2000 contingency application for management of Kidney Dialysis Patients at a cost of 10% of legacy application (Di-Proton) upgrade price.
